Things You Find Along the Canal

***NOTE***
All of the boxes are micro, (medicine bottles) so you may need a small stamp or just a fingerprint!

Start your hike at Perinton Park along the canal. As you face the canal, you will walk to the right, keeping the canal on your left side. You will be heading towards Bushnell’s Basin in Pittsford.

Before you go under the Church St Bridge on the right, there will be a big tree that the trunk looks like “swirled”. Facing the tree, move to the left, so that you are in between the path and the tree. Looking at the tree, about 5 feet up there is some bark that does not belong. Underneath the bark is a nook where you will find BIKE. Please make sure the bark fits back puzzlelike to cover up the container.

Continue down the towpath and go past the Fairport Crew Boathouse. The towpath will go from paved to gravel. There are several small clearings along the right side of the path. You will pass a clearing with a several trunked tree and one with a two trunked tree. After the clearing with the two trunked tree, there is another clearing that has some fallen trees. In the branch closest to you of the fallen tree is a hollowed out spot that is holding TURTLE. Its covered by a stick that seems to fit in just so.

Shortly down the towpath, again on the right is a little park-like setting called Canal Grove. When you get into the Grove, there is a little wall made of rocks. On the back of the wall, in the middle, there is an opening where you will find DUCK. It will be covered by sticks and twigs.

Keep going in the same direction, you will pass a yellow marker with number 27 on it. Shortly past the marker, there is a two trunked tree. Wedged in the “V” of the tree will be FROG covered by some bark.

Keep walking and soon you will see a small path on the right. Across the canal is a group of houses. Take the path into the woods, down a small hill and you will come to a three-way fork. Take the right path, go underneath a small arch made of two trees, you will come along side a fallen tree on a rock lined path, to another fallen tree. At the base of the fallen tree underneath the roots, hidden by twigs and sticks will be GOOSE.

It looks like someone may have made this a little hangout, there is a tv table and a desk chair. You may be able to use them when stamping in.

If you continue in the direction you are headed, you will end up in Bushnell’s Basin. Depending on the season, you may be able to go on up to Abbots for some frozen yogurt!

The canal path is very populated with bikers, walkers and joggers. Please be discreet when finding and rehiding the boxes.
