***BOX #1 MISSING AS OF 10/16/07***
This is a circular route--you will not have to retrace your steps.
Forever Wild #1
Take the number one up to Columbia U.
Bring ink, log, stamp and writing tools too.
Walk west until you come to the park,
Please be sure not to try this after dark.
At the marble fountain, for a drink you may pause
And ponder the subjects of a worthy cause
Carved in 1909 in commemoration
Of the Women’s Health Protective Association.
Facing the park take the path to the right
Named “Forever Wild”, it won’t give you a fright.
Never fear, your prize will soon be in sight.
The East Village is wilder on any night!
Stay parallel to the river, don’t go down the hill
A gnarled tree you’ll soon pass, keep walking still.
On your left past the sign you'll see a large rock,
Next a hollow log, now it’s time to take stock.
Reach through the fence and remove the guard stone.
Add a stamp to my book and one to your own.
Forever Wild #2 – recarved and replanted with new hiding place 9/17/07
Keep walking on, go round the bend,
Through the gate on the left where the fence does end
Walk straight on the path for quite a few yards
It may be a wilderness but it’s not very hard.
Blocking your way will be a BIG downed tree,
To the left side is a flare and that is the key
Look under here where wood is guarding the prize,
Which I hope is well hidden from all prying eyes.
