To find the Floodwood Passage letterbox you will need to paddle or hike to the "Floodwood Passage Bridge".

The general area is North of Tupper Lake and West of Upper Saranac Lake in Franklin county. The bridge connects the Otter Hollow Loop and the Floodwood Loop/Fish Creek trail and crosses the water passage between Floodwood Pond and Little Square Pond.

*If you paddle there is a convenient campsite where you can leave your boat on Floodwood Pond just East of the entrance to the passage.

*If you hike the bridge is approximately 1.7 miles from Floodwood Road (off of Route 30, the trail head is west of Middle Pond), 2 miles from site #257 at Rollins Pond Campground, and 3 miles from site #C6 at Fish Creek Campground. Use an appropriate map and don't forget to factor in the return trip.

Once there the letterbox is an easy find. From the SouthEast end of the bridge take about 7 paces along a large Birch Root to a rotting stump. The treasure is under some loose material at the base of this stump.

This location seems like a fairly busy spot so be sure it is well hidden and the immediate area does not look disturbed when replacing the box. I had to use a cheap box for this one so be sure the lid snaps on the corners and that the ziplock bags are sealed well so that it has a chance to survive the elements. You'll need to bring an inkpad and something to write with.

For a continued hike the "Westfalia" letterbox is about 2 miles from this box on the Otter Hollow Loop towards Rollins Pond Campground, by paddle take the cut to Rollins Pond and pull up on an empty campsite near the trail head. There is also another letterbox nearby at East Pine Pond (NFA-4) that is hosted on letterboxing.org.
