Take route 30 towards Columbia (East from York) to the 441 Columbia/Marietta Exit. You are going to go towards Marietta. This park is about a mile off the exit. You will first pass ‘Breezy View Overlook-Chickies Rock’- this is not the park entrance you want. You will want the second one, on your left, about half way down ‘Chickies Hill’. It is ‘Chickies Rock Overlook Trail’

You will start on the trail and shortly come to a sign that reads “Overlook Trail” you have two choices A or B...

A) You will travel so this sign stays on your right. This path is flat and sunny. In a few minutes you will come to a lone stone on your right side. It is good size stone, a few feet across and has a nice orangish tone to it. You have the length of 6 telephone poles til the path turns left and you’re near the end.

or

B) At the sign you go up the trail (so the sign is on your left) and stay straight at your first intersection. Your path will have a few fallen trees and you will travel through a lovely cathedral like grove. The trees all come to a point far above your head. After the grove you will stay on the path as it winds to your left and again at the next intersection, you’ll go straight. This path will end with another sign, with an arrow pointing right. This is were choice ‘A’ meets up. You’ll have the length of 2 telephone poles, til the path turns left and you’re near the end.

The path ends with a ‘Y’, each going to its own little overlook area. (Take time to look out at each overlook) At this time you’ll turn your back to the river and look the way the river isn’t flowing. You shall see a large 3 pronged tree and to its left, its friend who’s roots and top both touch the ground making a lovely arch. Pass through these 2, close enough to touch the 3 pronged tree with your right hand. As your touching the tree look straight ahead to a dead tree missing its upper half and beside it, its friend who’s 'V'eeling, 'V'ery ill on its left side. As you stand between these two, able to touch each, take no more than 4 steps forward or you’ll fall onto the earthen floor. Under the bark, you’ll find your quarry.
