NO BOX THERE ANYMORE!! MISSING BOX. ONLY GO FOR THE HIKE!

***Got word today (May 22, 2011) that the box was left open! (WHY??????) and the logbook is completely saturated. So, I will be in the area in August to reploece the logbook. In the meantime, if you feel like putting a new one there, I'd appreciate it. Sorry it's not intact but I heard the stamp is still fine.***

Abenaki Tower was erected in 1978 along Route 109 in Tuftonboro. The tower can be reached after a very short hike from the parking area. Abenaki Tower is aproximately 8 miles north of downtown Wolfeboro just past Sagamore Ridge Road. Be careful, it's a very quick right turn to get into the entrance.
To find the letterbox, climb to the tower. Standing under the tower (and facing the same direction as when you approached it), take the path that leads off into the woods in a northwest direction. Counting 25 steps, you will come to some old concrete footings that have been abandoned. From this vantage point, look farther northwest and spy the large rock through the trees. Go to this split rock and find the letterbox hidden under a flat rock just to the left side of it.
Please rehide IN THE SAME SPOT UNDER THE FLAT ROCK!
Hope you take the time to climb the tower. The view is grand.
