***The original letter box went missing, less than a week after we placed it!! We've placed a new box, in an entirely new location.***

This is a memorial letterbox for my Dad, who passed away July 6, 2007. He was a pilot so I picked a spot by the Sky Harbor airport to place the letterbox. The stamp is a T-37 "Tweetybird" which is an Air Force trainer and the first jet that he soloed in.

Clues to Letterbox:
The letterbox is hidden near the Left Seat Restaurant, (it's called that because the left seat is where the pilot sits) which is just off of 24th St. on Air Lane by Sky Harbor Airport. The restaurant has an area on their roof where you can stop for a while and watch the airplanes take off and land.

From the North: take I-10 East toward Tucson/Sky Harbor Airort. Take exit 148, the Washington/Jefferson St. Exit. Follow the signs for the Rental Car return by heading straight through the first stop light on the frontage road, keeping to the right. At the next light, turn left. At the "T" intersection, turn left onto 24th St. At the first light, turn right onto Air Lane. Enter in at Gate 108, which is the entrance to the "Left Seat Restaurant". Park in the parking lot. On the west side of the parking lot, you'll see the Embry-Riddle University building. Walk along the road to the right of Embry-Riddle, heading west until you see a clump of neglected palm trees immediately on the right side of the road, with a large boulder in the middle of the clump. Standing on the east side of the clump, you'll find the letterbox at the south end of the boulder, in a 'cubby hole' between the boulder and the trees. Be careful - you may want to poke in with a stick first to make sure there are no critters hiding as well!

From the South: take I-10 West toward Phoenix/Sky Harbor Airport. Take exit 150-B, the 24th St. Exit. Turn right onto 24th St. Turn right onto Air Lane. Please be sure to re-seal and re-hide well!
Happy Letterboxing!
