From Interstate 380 in Cedar Rapids, take 42nd St. west to Seminole Valley Rd. and turn left. Turn left again onto Seminole Valley Tr. As you drive down Seminole Valley Tr. slow down to watch the years fall away as you drive. By the time you reach the floor of the valley you will have left the 21st century and returned to the beginning of the 20th. As you look out into the valley from the road, you will see a small village through the tree. This is Ushers Ferry, a living history museum. The gates are open M-F from 8-4 and most weekends from 12-4. If you are here at another time, park outside the gates. Walk into the Village and take a step back in time. Find the house of Village founding father Henry Usher. The box is hidden under the front step. If you see a staff member around, be sure to be polite and say hi. Let them know what you are up to. It may be me!
