This box is located at the Ionia State Recreational Area south of Ionia and near Saranac on David Highway at the intersection of Jordan Lake Road. This is a state park and park rates do apply. Trail maps are available at the entry booth and are needed for some clues. I hope you enjoy! Let me know.
This is a moderate to hard walk taking you through a couple big hills about a mile round trip.
Clues:
Start at hiking marker #8 near the boat launch and proceed to marker #7 across the lot. Head on down the path toward marker #6. As you walk this path you will see a small offshoot to the right of the path. Take this smaller path off into the wilderness. If you are lucky enough to be here at the right time of year this path could be very tasty. Down a steep hill you will go (don't worry, its only a few feet down) between a couple of swamps and up the hills counterpart. Follow the path to find the relics of man. Follow the right edge of this relic until you reach its SE corner. I SPY from here a power box in line with the North Beach concession stand. Between these two stands a proud Green Ash tree. (I hope I don't have to move this box soon, with the EAB and all) At the base of this on the relic of the old South Beach you can Have a Swim.
