From Eagle Nest, New Mexico, take Highway 64 south toward Angelfire. Watch for a brown "Historic Marker Ahead" sign on the right. After about 5.5 miles, you will come to the Wheeler Peak marker on the right side of the highway. It is a brown sign with thick wooden posts on each end. (The pull-off area can be muddy.)
Check out the marker and enjoy the view of Wheeler, which is the highest peak in New Mexico.
The box is hidden below the sign, under a pile of rocks against one of the posts.
Please email me to report your experience with this box, as I will not be able to check it often.
Happy letterboxing!
