High Point State Park
Route 23 North...pass Park Office. (or stop in and get a map and a campsite!!). Continue on with the office to your left. Make the first left on to Sawmill Road, follow this road for 1.3 miles and you will see AYERS TRAIL. You can park here or continue on to the lake (0.4 miles) and park there. The camping here is awesome and a scenic hike around the lake and the falls under the dam are worth seeing!
Back to the Ayers trail.
Walk down this trail until you notice the stone wall ruins. The trail opens up into a clearing. Home foundation ruins on left. Barn foundation ruins on the right.
On the left two rocks, one red and one white.
At the base of the white rocks, two levels down.
Your surprise will be found.
Covered with red/white smaller rocks.
Enjoy High Point! I remember as a kid the house and barn still standing.
