~~Update!~~
Over this past winter ('08) our letterbox sadly disapeared. Whether it be Michigan's wonderful weather or a Shady Character, the letterbox was not in commission. But good news! We have recently replaced the letter box so your next search is sure to be fufilling.

Helpful Hints: Bring a compass!! Also, you may want to read the clues one step at a time. It helps build the suspense! This is an Easy to Medium letterbox. Enjoy!

Sheriff Dan pulled into the Clarkston Police Department on Church Street at 5:00 PM. The Chief of Police ran out to greet him.

“I’m so glad you’re here, Dan,” he said. “A robbery has occurred at the Union General restaurant—their world famous Mac’n’Cheese recipe has been stolen.”

Sheriff Dan was on the case; he headed south to the scene of the crime. He wandered around the premises scavenging for clues, pausing to pay his respects to Nose Less, the resident Indian chief.

“Hmm,” Sheriff deliberated, “I have a hunch that this crook took to the wilder parts of Clarkston to hide his loot.” Dan spied a readily available device to transport his portly bulk faster than his feet could, and used it to speed down to the crosswalk. After crossing, he decided to investigate a suspiciously demure trail of clover beginning behind the trash receptacle at 330 degrees. Following it up the steps and to the front of the building where it emerged, Dan dropped in for a quick denture cleaning.

Drawn forth by the sound of a delightful melody, Dan questioned a nearby witness about the details of the crime. The owner of the rusted red gate had no tales to tell, but pointed him behind her homey business and through a second gate to the Clarkston Beyond. Evening had come and ahead great lanterns led Dan further into Clarkston’s uncharted territories of asphalt. Parking his bike, Sheriff Dan had a seat with Janette Hitchcock to rest his portly bulk. Darkness, as previously stated, was falling. Sheriff could barely make out the silhouette of a Shady Character with a letterbox on the horizon.

“Aha,” he said to himself, “Any Shady Character out this late can be up to no good.” With Janette on his left he raced after him up the dark trail. He ran and ran; he huffed and puffed. Feeling an asthmatic attack coming on, he whipped out his inhaler—but just then the Shady Character sprinted over the bridge and darted into the nearby brush. To gain on him, Dan plunged through the flowing stream, following him into the concealing foliage.

After a short chase of twenty paces, Shady Character collapsed among some tree roots in an asthmatic attack, and the letterbox he had been gripping so tightly tumbled into the woods. After handcuffing Shady Character and administering medication with his own inhaler, the Sheriff tied him up and whipped out his keychain flashlight to locate the illusive letterbox. Finally he found it behind a large dead spider and rescued the recipe. In triumph he led the crook and the recipe back to the police headquarters and was hailed forever as a Clarkston hero.
