This Letterbox is hidden on the “Rail Trail” / walking path off Middle Settlement Road, near the 840 ramps and Oneida County BOCES. Bring your own ink pad, stamp and pen along. It is about a 10 – 15 minute walk from Middle Settlement Road to the letterbox.

Ahoy! Seek the “X” on the sidewalk to begin your voyage. To the left, dock yourself on the bench. Enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Take in the bountiful foliage and savor the abundance of color. But don’t anchor yourself for long, matey, your journey has just begun.
Back on the trail, look for the trees with the “peg-legs” supporting them on the left side of the trail. Start counting them as you sail on by. As you pass the calm sea, thar ye shall see the “two mile” coordinate. Stay on course – don’t depart to the right.
When you reach the “double” peg-leg trees (#9 & 10) Ye shall spy the ½ doubloon mark ( a 1/2 in a circle )on the trail. Avast Matey! Standing on the ½ circle doubloon, facing the double peg-leg trees, ye shall see a fleet of Hemlock, up the fiddler’s green. Aye, there be land-lubben creatures about. Sail off the trail, up the bank.
Sit upon the fallen mast that’s parallel to the trail, yer back to the trail. Scan the near horizon for a standing tree with a crevice, six paces from the plank you sat. Hornswaggle the sticks from Davy Jones locker, and there ye shall find yer treasure. Yo-ho-ho!
Make yer mark for the next “Buccaneer.” Shiver me timbers, rehide the booty well for the next “Sea-dog.” Shove off in your Sea Rover to yer next great adventure…..
