The Duck Lake Snapper is located in Duck Lake State Park in Whitehall, MI. We call it this (Snapper) because we always visit this area in June, which happens to be the time of year that snapping turtles lay eggs. Our 3 year old daughter has always found this to be most amusing. We have had to stop traffic a number of times to let them pass.

Clues
* Enter through the newly renovated park entrance located on Scenic Dr.
Suggestion: GO early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid a daily park fee. There is also a back entrance for bikers or walkers from Michilinda Dr. You just modify the first part of the clue to go straight from the back entrance to the parking lot. You will pass the log entrance on your left on your way to the parking lot.

* When you pass through the information booth area turn left through the parking lot.
* Continue left through a fork in the road and head up hill. At the first yield sign turn right and go to the parking lot for a space.
* Walk back to the yield sign and walk E toward the 2 log pole entrance to the "trail" (you'll also see an arrow marker post a few feet from the entrance to the trail).
* Start walking in an Eastwardly direction while looking North for a large tree with a verticle orange line on it.
* From that tree continue on the trail about 90 paces (1 pace = 2 steps).
* Looking to the North you'll notice a large stump (about 6 feet tall) with a long verticle cut in the side.
* Inside the cut lies the Duck Lake Snapper. Watch out he may Snap at you!!!
