++++PLEASE BE SURE TO RE-HIDE EACH BOX BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT. ALSO BE SURE ALL AI IS RELEASED FROM PLASTIC BAGS – AND THAT ALL BAGS ARE INSIDE THE BOX. THIS IS HAT KEEP THEM DRY. A PLASTIC BAG ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOX IS COUNTERPRODUCTIVE. THANKS!++++

LOCATION: Pine Bend County Park. This park actually joins up with Hemlock Crossings, however to start this series you should begin at the Pine Bend end. To get there take US 31 to Croswell St. West to 156th South. Follow this to the end, take a left onto Polk St., which end at the park.

CLUES: Begin at the trail head and follow twenty-three where there is an arm-y of pine. At the choice you will travel 9 steps along the trail – but which trail?
Choice 1: Trail 22 if Sounder’s owner is Billy Coleman
Choice 2: Old Lane trail if Sounder’s owner is Marty Preston
Choice 3: Service Road if Sounder’s owner is nameless.
There will be a sweet sound coming from a light colored dieing pine at about 20 degrees.
To continue on, check the trail map and head towards the bridge. Before you cross, locate a birch tree downstream. It’s a perfectly mushy (at times) place for ferns, don’t you think?
Cross that bridge and stick to the main trail. Pass a half living Maple on the right then some cut ones. If it’s winter there’ll be a sign, if not you’ll know where it goes. From it, sight a) 15 degrees if the journey was taken by Buck, Spitz & Curly b) 260 degrees if the journey was taken by Shadow, Chance & Sassy or c) 100 degress if the journey was taken by Frog, One Ear & Fatty. Around behind that XL three lettered one, on the back side of a fallen and decaying one – exactly at the short arm.
Return to the fork and make another choice:
Take the Left fork if Dr. Mortimer and Dr. Watson are partners.
Take the Right fork if Dr. Watson and Mr. Holmes are partners.
If you’ve chosen correctly, you will soon find a 3 trunked Maple on your right. Stand here at this triple…hmmm, what is that creaking sound….dang, that’s really creeping me out. Think I’ll hide in that hollow log at 30 degrees.
Continuing along the trail I am frightened again by that broken armed beast on the left – I’ve gotta get out of here…yucky caterpillar on the right….wind is fierce….run from Medusa on the right. Finally a perfect place for shelter behind that lonely old Maple off to the right….OH MY GOSH! What the heck is that under that jumble of sticks? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
(***THIS BOX IS CURRENTLY MISSING. I HAVE NOT YET DECIDED TO REPLACE IT...MAYBE YOU'D LIKE TO HAVE ONE OF YOUR CARVINGS IN THIS SERIES? LET ME KNOW!!)
While traveling the main trail again, come to another choice.
Go Left if yeller lovin’ children are Dan and Ann
Go Right if yeller lovin’ children are Travis and Arliss.
Are you tired of being scared? Need a feel good story?
Curve Right, just pasted a Y-ed oak and spot a 6 trunked Maple to the SE.
(What do you want from me…it starts out good…)
Trek on past a nice big 4 trunked Maple on your right at the left bend in the trail. At the top of the hill – wait…do you hear howling? What kind of call is that? 12 paces at 150 degress…Y don’t you check it out.
Down you go – to the choice.
Head Left if White Fang is a Wolf/Dog
Head Right if White Fang is a St. Bernard.
Again with the howling, sheesh! Seems to be coming from the NE side of the trail, 3 trunks, one’s a Y, and one looks like it used to be.
Had I known I’d have to go there, I wouldn’t have come this way – maybe I should turn back...guess I’ll have to choose.
Turn back if it’s a Redbone hound that chooses Marty Preston.
Continue on if it’s a Beagle that chooses Marty Preston.
Before to long off to your right a couple are red and are sticking up. Yonder there, there’s a hollowed out bit.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your literary adventure. Special thanks to all the stamp contributors : QuiltsNBees, Kimono Girl, SpringChick & Scoutdogs. If you’d like to add a box to this series based on one of your favorite Old School Canine’s I strongly encourage you to contact me – we’ll work it out. To get back to the trailhead continue on the main trail to the next fork – which should look familiar – if not, consult the trail map.
