Location: Ionia Recreational Area, take Exit 64 from I-96 and head north to the end of the road. This is a State Park and daily use permit or annual permit is required. Trail maps are available at the gate.

Difficulty: Moderate, 1.5 miles long or 3.4 miles long if you complete the loop.

IMPORTANT: Box #1 has been confirmed missing. The rest of the boxes have been confirmed OK. We will replace soon and adjust the clues accordingly.

Please re-seal all baggies and REHIDE WELL. Some recent younger boxers have not rehidden these boxes very well. These boxes seal well and don't need to be placed inside a baggie.

Clues:

One day a lazy cat was hunting for some food and spied the 3 Blind Mice as he came to Point Picnic Area. He parked and raced, well OK ... rambled, down trail #3 in hot pursuit thinking this should be easy enough for even a lazy cat to do. He passed two large rocks as he kept the lake on his right and headed into the wooded area. He went past RLB94 but cats don't swim, so he avoided the water. Just before he reached the creek bed he thought he heard something coming from the hole in that tree over there. It might be beneficial if you checked it out, too.
Not finding the easy mark he was looking for there he continued down the trail and at #2 he headed for number nine. He crossed something with a sign on it that said it was built in 1985 by the Michigan Youth Corps. On the right he noticed a very odd looking tree. He thought that it looked like that hole half way up was a perfect place for the sun to peek through. At the base of its fallen neighbor he thought he spotted those elusive blind mice again, but he was disappointed. This wasn't the easy target he was searching for, either. You may want to investigate for yourself, however.
He thought this was beginning to be too much like work. Heading back out on the trail of the 3 Blind Mice the lazy cat headed up a small incline. He rested on the bench over there and licked his tired paws for a while before he continued on. You can do the same, if you're so inclined. Rest, I mean ... or lick your tired paws too, if that suits you. When he was rested he moved on. His feline instincts told him to ignore that unmarked trial over there. He was so slow that as he followed the trail up the hill he lost their scent so he just followed the arrows. Eventually, on the left he saw a stripped tree flogged by some metal fencing. A huge decaying brother there had dropped many arms and he thought he saw something move under one of them. You might want to rummage around there yourself.
We hope you have enjoyed this hunt. Retrace your steps to get back to your vehicle.
Let us know if any of these boxes need attention.
