History:

Gecko's are very fast moving creatures and can "drop" their tails to confuse a predator, so that can escape. There are many different types of Geckos and only a few are found in North Texas. There are 2 famous gecko characters, the Geico Insurance Gecko and a Pokemon named Treecko. Geckos are great creatures who can walk on walls and ceilings and eat insects and mosquitos. Enjoy trying to find our Gecko Letterbox and don't be afraid if you see a few on your hike.

Clues:

Find Randol Mill Park at 1901 W Randol Mill Road, Arlington, Texas. Take the main entrance and follow the road north, pass the tennis courts and ball fields on the right and the playground on the left. Continue north to the last parking lot, which veers to the left at the split. Park at the "Lake Parking" sign, just east of the pond. Look to the south to see a bridge that crosses over the lake and head that direction. Be sure to take time to enjoy the birds, ducks, geese, turtles and fish (fishing permitted) while on your walk. Cross over the bridge and take the dirt path to the right (north) once the sidewalk ends. The dirt path goes in several directions, so stay to the right. Pass the first bench seating area on the left. Continue straight on the path until you see the second bench seating area. You should be almost directly across from the parking area and should be able to see your car. Facing the bench you will notice 2 trees to the right of the bench and a fallen log on the ground in front of the bench. The Gecko's Tale letterbox is well hidden under the fallen log about 2 feet from the north end. You may need gloves or a stick to remove the box from it's hiding place.

Please be discreet and rehide the box well so that it is protected and hidden from sight as this is a busy park. Please contact placer zboxers@sbcglobal.net to report any problems with the box or a full log. We would love to hear about your adventure as this is the first box we have placed.

Good Luck and Happy trails!
