Hike: short/easy, nearly a drive by
Jay was originally carved for the Great Book Adventure in Texas in October 2006, then he briefly visited at the LBSE gathering in May 2007. He has now traveled home…or perhaps at least closer to it!
“THEIR PATHS ARE STILL. (HK)”
Jay and his friends may be gone, but he has returned home.
Your search for Jay begins in the left corner of the overlook parking area. Turn left down the hill, past one small side trail on the right. Then, make the Right choices as the sandy path meanders. Within 5 minutes, the sandy trail splits with the right fork leading into denser woods. Follow for approx. 34 steps to a small side trail on the right. (There’s a small square brown trail sign here nailed to a tree.) Follow the side trail for approx. 120 steps or until a large boulder off to the right of the trail is due south of you. Stop and face south. Look between the boulder and a smaller rock to its left, there is a V tree with a fallen tree resting in the V. Under the fallen tree covered with sticks and debris rests Jay.
