hand-carved: yes
drive by: no
wheelchair accessible: yes, except for last few feet where one needs to push through the bushes
This is a beautiful and educational walk, especially for folks who want to learn more about birds. There are interesting signs about birds to read all along the way, and the stamp coordinates with the theme.
Begin at the parking lot by going to the platform on the right side of the parking lot and reading the various signs.
Walk down to the lighthouse. Find the window on the ground floor. Outside the window is a pay telescope by a fence. Beginning with the first fencepost to the right of the telescope, count nine fenceposts to the right. The ninth will be the last post in the fence. The letterbox is at the bottom of the fencepost, covered in leaves. You will have to push through a couple of bushes to reach the letterbox. They are salal and salmonberry--not poisonous.
Can you identify the bird on the stamp? It was on one of the first signs you read...
Please sign your trail name and date your stamp in our journal. Please e-mail us to let us know you found it. Please rehide well.
Happy Letterboxing!
