This is part of a series of drive-by boxes along Highway 26 between Central Oregon and Idaho. All are located within fast, easy access to the highway for quick rest stop breaks.
UPDATE: This box is MIA. We'll replant as soon as possible.
CLUE:East of John Day, about milepost 127 look for signs indicating the Mascal Overlook. It is on the south side of the highway and has views of the valley important fossil finds. Park your car and head for the path on the west side of the lot. As you enter the paved trail you will see a huge rock dead ahead. The box is in a crevice under the rock, hidden by small rocks. The trick will be its exposure. If anyone else is around you will have to be very clever to not be seen. Fortunately, this is a quiet wayside so you should have no problem.
