Road Closure
Check before you go--the road to the summit is closed during winter months.

One of the earliest Spokane letterboxes lasted only one summer. The placer (and I can't remember her name) planted only one box in her letterboxing career. She removed it the winter of 2003 and never put the box back. It sat on the LBNA list for ages because she forgot her password and did not know how to delete the listing.

Vista House is a Spokane landmark and treasure. So, to honor that early box and boxer, we present to you the next generation "Vista House Letterbox."

From I90 travel north on Argonne Road. Turn east on HWY 206 and follow the signs to Mt. Spokane State Park, approximately 15 miles from Argonne Road. Once in the park, drive to the summit of Mt Spokane. Drive toward the antennae, cell towers, and other IT artifacts. Park in front of the collection of hollow tubes pointing off in the distance, make sure you can recognize both Spirit Lake and Twin Lake.

Now, to Vista House. At the base of the wall overlooking the grand vista of Spirit, Twin, and Pend Oreille, between the balusters, you'll find your prize.

There are lots of rocks: Experienced boxers will recognize the small cairn.
