Pancake Summit is in the Pancake Range east of Eureka. I placed this box in recognition of my graduate thesis which was on the geology and paleontology of the central Pancake Range south of the box location. The stamp depicts a fossil I found there and named as a new species.

Travel to Pancake Summit which is on U. S. Highway 50 between mileposts WP11 and WP12. Park at the green Pancake Summit sign on the south side of the highway.

From the summit sign, walk at about 44 degrees (from mag. north) to a round orange tipped white post (approx. 4 ft. high) with the number N2276 on it. From the post, go at about 100 degrees for about 28 steps to a small Juniper Tree near the fence line. The box is at the base of the tree on its south side under a rock covered with some plant debris.

Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag). Please rehide the box well under the rock and covered with some plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

I will not be able to check on this box very often; so, please let me know if you find it. Also, let me know if it is missing so that I can delete the clues:
