The way to crack the "Manzanita Mystery" is to start your quest by turning West off Highway 101 onto the town's main street, Laneda. Park on either side of the street or choose the public parking lot, which is left on 5th Street. This is a kid friendly letterbox, but for the wee ones, a stroller is best.

West towards the waves you go. Meander past the "Little Apple". If you must take a break, there are several painted benches to cool your heels. Otherwise, continue westward to your next clue. California has it's own Carmel by the Sea, but so does Manzanita. Find this shared name and head South towards Treasure Cove. As you are on the straight and narrow, keep in mind the Pacific Ocean is just yards away, but East OF and ON the Pacific is where to go. You'll discover it is not far to locate a mini-beach with a net and a tennis court. From there, find the tall fir tree that anchors the tennis court. Your back to the tree and facing North, look slightly Northeast to see a metal tank. What surrounds the metal tank is where you'll spy your prize. Walk around to the right side of this natural curtain. The box you seek is hidden under some leaves.

Be stealthy as there are many eyes to see what you uncover. Please make sure the box has some leaves to disguise it when you return it to its hidding place.
