THIS BOX WAS PULLLED FOR MAINTENENANCE ON 07/21/08 TO REPLACED 7/29/09
Lincoln park is the place where the opening ceremony of the Portland Freedom Trail took place on 07/14/07. It was a wonderful ceremony with a monument placed in the park. Before the ceremony began I placed a letterbox honoring this significant step in conitinuing to record Portland's history!
The park sits in front of the cumberland county courthouse. Walk along the courthouse side of the park and take a seat on the third park bench. To the left of the bench look at the fence, notice the octagonal cement supports at the bottom of the fence? Go to the second one to the left of the bench. Move the cracked cement and you will find what you are looking for. It took me a while to come up with a place to hide this box. The trees are very old and tall without knarls or holes so this is where I chose to put the box. I hope letterboxers aren't afraid of a few bugs.
