Star at Eagle Cliff (by Froggie of the Limekiln Loons)

This is a surprisingly quick hike with a unique view of 4th Lake & Eagle Bay, & Eagle Bay Park.

From the South, go north ~ 8.5 miles from Old Forge, NY on Route 28, turn left onto Big Moose Road in the center of Eagle Bay.

From the North, go ~1.5 miles from Inlet & turn right onto Big Moose Road in the center of Eagle Bay.

Immediately on the right, park at the small dirt parking area at the corner on the former Eagle Bay Service/Thibado property(A town sign is erected on the site).

Walk the Big Moose Rd. to the first driveway on the right (there is a “Dead End” sign and a 30 mph sign). Walk up the driveway and take a left onto the trail(marked with a white painted arrow sign), after the blue cabin but before the green cabin. Please be courteous and respectful as you pass between/through these private properties.

Hike the trail to the very top. It is a short hike (10 minutes up) but a bit steep and somewhat slippery when wet - use caution in wet/damp weather periods.

To Find what you seek, at the top, go past the view of Fourth Lake and continue up the “hogs back” before it starts to descend. Standing at the top of that rock with the lake on your right, you’ll see a triangular shaped rock that broke off of the hogs back. Under the far side of the rock, you will find the "Star at Eagle Cliff" covered with sticks and leaves.
