One day, we took our little dog Tatty to the new dog run that is in West Hills County Park.. This part of the park is located in Melville, on Sweet Hollow Road, just North of Old Country Road. Head North up Sweet Hollow, past the bridge and the park entrance is just a little bit after the road narrows. There are signs for the dog run and the picnic area.

Once we parked the car in the lot there, we started heading for the grass. Then, Tatty’s leash broke and she headed off into the trails of West Hills Park. Maybe you can help us find her. This is a store bought stamp.

Standing in the parking lot directly in front of the flag pole, look to the right and go through the opening in the wooden fence. Keep that fence to your left and head towards the tree line. When you pass the first trees, you’ll see an opening in the vegetation and another fence beyond. That’s the way Tatty went!

Go around the fence and make a left on the bridal path. Follow it and stay to the right when it forks. By now you’ve probably noticed the blue trail blazes painted on a couple of the trees. Ahead you can see where the blue trail goes right and up into the woods. Tatty loves that trail. Go up the rather steep climb and at the “T” the blue trail will go left. You won’t. You’ll make a right.

Start walking downhill and past the two little trees that split the trail. About ten paces later, the trail turns right in front of two horizontal branches on the ground. About 12 more paces after that, you’ll see a tree that twinned on the right side. Walk over to the tree and keeping your back to the trail and the tree to your right, look forward and to the left to another twinned tree that has a fallen branch resting in it. Walk carefully over there and see if you can find Tatty under some bark, twigs and leaves.

After stamping in, please re-hide well. If you follow the trail and make a right where it ends at the bridal trail, you’ll end up back where you started.

*I have been informed that the park is now charging $8.00 to enter. I believe this may be for the summer on the weekends, but I don't think the booth is always staffed, so it's hit or miss *
