The "Scalper" is the first of ten letterboxes being placed along the Ogdensburg Maple City Trail. The entire trail is no more than five miles long. Many of the boxes are less than a mile apart and are now arranged in order of location so you can find nine of the boxes easily in about 2-3 hours. (Note the clues in Parenthesis). Each box contains a brief description of an important historical marker close by.
To find the "Scalper" follow the library signs to the Ogdensburg Public Library. Stand on the front steps with your back to the doors. Across the street is the largest collection of paintings and bronzes made by the famous western artist, Frederic Remington. Cross the street going East towards a white English Tutor style home.
Inside the tutor style building is an interactive place for children to learn more about Frederic Remington. It is called Kid's Place because it is a fun place for children and because Mr. Remington called his wife "Kid".
Once you have reached Kid's place, follow the garden path to the Westside Terrace garden. The "Scalper" will be waiting at the red stone stairs.
