1-11-09: CURRENTLY MISSING: It had been awhile since we did box maintenance (we are fair-weather letterboxers I'm afraid) yet today we went in response to notices that it had, once again, gone missing. Dad should have been smarter & looked for a better location after the first 2 times ;)

Unfortunately, the box is gone. We spent an hour searching the surrounding area but to no avail. Catlady8 is carving a new stamp and we will plant (in a new location) once ready. Sorry to all those that went hunting. FYI, #2 & #3 are still planted (although we had to pry the frozen branches that are covering #2). Stay tuned for updates.

We replaced the letterbox, please visit (or re-visit since the first journal & stamp are gone). Had to make new stamp as well. The first box disappeared...please rehide well to keep out of sight of hikers!

Previously my brother & I shared the same letterbox but now we each have out own (plus I planted a one one this year) at different spots along the same trail- PLEASE visit all 3 Conewago Trail boxes while you are there.

The Conewago Trail entrance we are using is located outside of Elizabethtown, heading West on Route 230 (which is Market Street in E-town) toward Middletown, PA. The parking lot is 1.7 miles from the intersection of Route 743 (coming from Hershey, PA) & 230 (Market St) on the west side of E-town.

Park in the lot off Route 230. Head unto the Conewago trail but almost immediately, & just after the iron-railed bridge, take the foot path (dirt path, off the gravel-path)to your right (at the "00" guidepost). It looks like a well-traveled path but not part of the official Conewago trail. We have never had difficulties on this path but it is not gravel-covered like the main trail & can get muddy in the Spring/Fall seasons. It will lead you to a hidden lake where some people come to fish. Anyway, once on this trail, stay sraight on the path for about 90 steps (every time your foot hits the ground is a step). As you reach your destination, you will pass by a cut log on the right side of the trail (see photo on AQ), 7 steps beyond this is a lesser trail (where my black backpack is sitting in the photo) into the brush due North. You will see a log lying on the ground, about 8-10 feet off the path. Closest to you, the log (intersects) lies at the base of a large tree. The letterbox is under the log close to this intersection. Again, we had to hide it well as the first one disappeared, it is covered with smaller logs, bark, etc. It is best to access the box from the opposite side of the fallen log in order to maintain the camouflage facing the larger path, hopefully to keep hidden. PLEASE rehide well.

Please let me know if you have trouble & please visit my brother's box & my second farther up the trail.
