• New hiding spot

The Huxley Ampitheatre is a lovely use of an old railroad bed/station. The park shows very little sign of its railroad heritage, but you can see them if you look. The ampitheatre was built where the actual tracks used to be, and the picnic shelter is standing on the site of (and resembles) the old station. The ampitheatre is somewhat new to the town and gets used for a variety of municipal functions. It was planted on the night of a Huxley Community Band performance. Thus, the shape of the stamp in the letterbox.

Bring your own ink.
Level of terrain difficulty: easy
Time required after parking: 5-10 minutes.

Directions: Traveling on Hwy 69 through Huxley, watch for the northernmost traffic light, by the Methodist church. Turn southwest (same side as the church) onto Main St. Go past the high school, the fire station, and the water tower. Just after 1st St., you'll see the park on your right. Park anywhere near the ampitheatre.

Clues:
• Standing at the front of the ampitheatre, read the plaque of dedication at your feet.
• Walking right and looking down, find the place where a right angle made of railroad ties meets a 45-degree angle of the same material.
• Let your eyes follow the shared side of these two geometric shapes up to a vertical maroon post.
• Wrap around this post and feel underneath where concrete, wood, and teal steal meet. There lies the letterbox. Be carefuly, you'll be squatting on a ledge, of sorts.
