***MISSING*** as of July, 5th 2010. Will try to replace.

The Giant’s Stairs on Bailey Island is one of my favorite spots; it is here that you will find a hand carved prize.

Take Costal Rt. 1 to Cook’s Corner (Brunswick), follow rt. 24 South to Bailey Island. You will first travel on Great Island, after crossing the next bridge you are on Orr's island. Enjoy the views, how could you not. A very old Cribstone bridge will mark the beginning of Bailey's Island.

Keep traveling on this road until you find Washington Ave. on your left. Take this street, the Giant Staircase café is on the corner. You will find a small church not too much further, there is parking here for the Giant’s Stairs. Follow Ocean St. toward the Dead End and the Ocean, there you will find the path the leads to the stairs.

Follow the path, I would suggest to follow it along the rock line closer to the ocean (away from the poison ivy!). Find the plaque that marks the Giant’s Staircase, but first take in the great views. Stand behind the plaque facing the ocean, looking right down the staircase into the “Danger Zone.” Look to your right at approximately “2 o’clock.” There you will see a pile of rocks about 30 paces away. Yes, there are a million rocks but these ones are different. One looks like a fallen log, one has a cross on it, one was visited by “Jess” in 1995. Among this pile find the rock with the name “Bodwell.” In a crevasse behind and under this rock is where you will find your prize. Hope you find it! Please replace it carefully.
