Afloat in a boat
A Letterbox Adventure
Lake Granbury:
The lake was created in 1969 when the Brazos River was impounded. Because the river flowed through Granbury on a northwest-to-southeast axis, that is now the general area covered by this very linear reservoir.
The Brazos River Authority is the controlling authority, and it is their phone number listed above. The website listed above is the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's page about Lake Granbury.
Lake Granbury covers around 8,300 acres with a maximum depth of 75 feet, and is 35 miles long. Water skiing, kayaking and jetskiing are popular on its water. The Granbury city beach is located at 601 Pearl Street and is the location for swimmers.
Fishing is also very popular on Lake Granbury, with the lake considered a good spot for largemouth bass, sunfish, catfish, white bass and striped bass.
There is a legend of a mysterious "sea serpent" or "lake monster," along the lines of Nessie named the One-eye.
Here is the clue:
Take 377 to 144 and turn South on 144. Turn left on Rough Creek Park Road in to "Rough Creek Park". Advance toward the boat ramp and turn right immediately before the boat ramp. You will see two picnic tables. Go to the table on the left closest to the lake. Walk fve step to a grove of trees. The box is buried at the base of the 4 fork tree under a triangular shaped rock.
