Information about this Letterbox Series:

These are all microboxes. You will have to bring your own stamp pad

Each box will give you a part of a larger stamp. To reassemble in the correct order, collect in the order written. The stamps will progress vertically down the page.

These are localed in some adventurous areas. Some of the terrain is steep and so be careful and wear appropriate footwear. The area is very interesting so you might want to bring a camera. Children should not attempt this.

Directions from Albany:

Take 787 North toward Troy. From 787 take the Troy exit to route 7 east. Take a right at the first stoplight onto 8th Ave. Go through a stoplight and 4-way stop sign, and continue forward. RPI campus will be up the hill on the left hand side. After passing a large modern building (currently being built) make a left onto Collage Ave. Go up the hill. Next, make a right turn onto 14th Street. Drive all the way down 14th Street until you get to a light. Go straight through the light onto a small road. There will be a gravel parking area on the left side of the road. Park there, and continue the rest on foot.

To the Starting point for each Letterbox:

Continue walking down the paved road and around the gate. Follow this road until you reach you reach a “T”. There will be a grass path to your left, and a paved path on your right. This is the starting point for each box. (The Part 2 and Part 3 are along the same route)

Part 1:
From the Starting point look for a man who is missing a hat. Walk toward him, but before you get there look to the left for a guardrail. Cross the guardrail by the second to last post. If you look directly down the hill, you should see a railing, and an old set of stairs. You want to take those stairs down the hill. Be careful getting to the stairs as the ground is slightly loose; use the trees to help stabilize yourself. At the bottom of the stairs there is a platform. The first letterbox is located on the side of the platform closest to the river, under a rock with two loose bricks on top of it. (Please remember to put it back the way you found it)

Part 2 and Part 3:
Return to the starting location and follow the grass path. It will turn into a gravel path. As you walk down the path, look for a a rock face of the left side of the path. Follow the rock face around the rock wall. Just before the path turns down a hill to go down to the river, stop. Look toward the rock wall, and you will notice a slightly less worn path. About 15 feet up the path is a tree growing out of the rock, with long exposed roots going into the ground. By these roots you will find a metal rod sticking out of the ground. The second letterbox is located at the base of the metal bolt.

For the final letterbox, go back to the gravel path and take it down to the river. Walk upstream along the river until you see the waterfall. Look to the left side of the waterfall, and you will see a cave. Make your way up to the cave and go though to the other side. Go around the cave to the right (facing downstream. The final letterbox is in a crevice about 8 feet up, behind a rock.

Congratulations! You Found them all. Remember Dead Men Tell No Tales.
