The Owl Pen is a true hidden treasure, especially for book lovers. Billed as a "book farm dedicated to the fine art of browsing," the Owl Pen has over 100,000 used books and is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours in the Washington County countryside.

It is open from May 1st to October 31st. Hours are from Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 6 PM.

From the junction of State Route 29 and Route 40 in Greenwich, head north on Route 40 about 1.3 miles. Turn Right on Spraguetown Road and proceed about 4.5 miles until it ends at the junction with North Road and a stop sign. Turn right onto North Road and go a short way, about 1/10 of a mile and then bear left past the yield sign onto Christie Road. Go just about another tenth of a mile and make a left onto Riddle Road. Go up Riddle road about 0.8 mile until you see a white farmhouse on your right, at 166 Riddle Road. Pull into the parking lot.

Face the entrance to the parking lot.
To the right of the entrance are two large maples.
The second one back from the entrance holds your prize, under a moss-covered stone. Enjoy, and please replace the letterbox exactly as you found it.
