Directions to Beaver Brook Association, Brown Lane Barn (Not Maple Hill Farm)

52 Brown Lane Road, Hollis, NH 03049

CREATURE #1

To find two creatures that live at Beaver Brook, walk to the picnic tables and look across the dirt road for the trail marked Tepee Trail. It is opposite of the big field with a single tree.

Follow the Tepee Trail into the meadow. You will pass a sign for a Bird Blind. Do not take the path to the Bird Blind – stay straight on Tepee. When you come to a Y intersection in the meadow, take a right and walk through an opening that will lead you through more meadow with a big hill on your right.

When you start to enter the wooded area, you will come to a 4-way intersection. You will see a large stump. Take the trail to the right of this large stump. It will be marked "Mapleleaf Trail". Immediately the trail will fork. Take the left. This is the Leatherwood Trail. Walk until you come to a big boulder on your left. Turn to face the boulder and look behind it for a large pine tree. To the right of the large pine is a small pine tree stump. Peek inside! Recover carefully.

CREATURE #2

After finding Creature #1, head back towards the field to the 3-way intersection and take a right. Look for a sign for Tepee Trail. Follow the trail until you cross a bridge that goes over a stream. Before the stream is a rock labyrinth that starts near a small stump on the ground. Walk between the rocks, not on them, and this will lead you to a thinking rock in the middle where you can think quiet thoughts.

When you are ready to continue cross the bridge and continue to the first yellow triangle trail blaze that you see on the right. Look for fallen trees also on the right of the trail. Some fallen trees will line the trail, but two will point into the woods towards a large depression in the ground. Walk to the hole and look under some branches for Creature #2.

To return to Brown Lane Barn where you started, continue up the trail and do not go back to cross the bridge. Turn right at the top of the hill. This wide trail is called Cow Lane.

Continue on Cow Lane and follow it down a hill, past a wooden sign post on your left and over a stream. Continue until you come to another wooden sign post at a "4-way intersection". Turn right and walk up the steep hill and at the top of this trail you will find that you have made a large loop! Congratulations!
