Begin at the Cross In The Woods Catholic shrine on M-68 in Indian River. You may park across the street from the church on M-68 or at the Cross In The Woods Family Center parking lot. Make your way to the cross behind the church. The area is open year round but mass is held outside during the summer on sunny days and you will not be able to make your way to the cross during mass. From the base behind the cross with your back to the church turn left. Follow the paved path for a short distance. This path curves but if you head straight there is a dirt path through the woods. Continue along this path toward the yellow building which is the family center until you see that the lawn ends. From here continue along 12 paces to a pine tree on the right hand side of the trail. Turn into the woods on the right and head toward a large tree that has a second trunk which is dead. From behind this tree you will see a tall stump with many rocks at the base. Here you will find the box. If you end up at the fence separating the Cross In The Woods from Burt Lake State Park you have gone too far.
