This letterbox is exciting and may be a little challenging! It is a nice hike through a beautiful park, with a lot of nature.
How to get there:
Head to Cos Cob, Connecticut, a small area of Greenwich located between exits 4 and 5 of Interstate 95. Head down Indian Field Road, and turn right on East Putnam Avenue. Keep going, and then turn left onto Orchard Street, then a quick right onto Bible Street. Go all the way up the hill and turn left into Montgomery Pinetum Park and park in the parking lot.
Clues:
The Naked Lady
When you get there, walk around the white building, and you will see a bird bath, a pond in the distance and many trees. When you get to the bird bath, face down towards the pond and walk to a little patio with a black railing around it. From here, approach the naked lady. Follow this path to the Picea asperata (only two words, NOT three). Continue west and face the small stream, and you will see a line of white and gray in the way distance. Head towards this, and you will discover that these “white and gray” things form a circle. Turn right, and make your way over several large, flat rocks. Next, continue through the grass, until you get to a triangle of three evergreens. When you get to these trees (thayer yews), face east, and go to a Japenese Yew with many trunks. Standing infront of the name plate, look through the tree and you will see a rock in the distance. There you will find your prize. Make sure that you hide the box well in the hiding spot when you are finished!!! We hope you enjoyed the walk, nature, and the beautiful park!!!
p.s. - there is another letterbox in another area of Pomerance, and one in a nearby park called Mianus River Park, both fun to find!
