Bunniez n’Flowerz
Take Exit 38 Bath off of I-86 Expressway. Take a right off the exit. Stop at light and get onto Cameron Street. Go past Tops and the Dormann Library; turn right onto County Route 10. Drive over the railroad tracks and bridge. Go 1.5 miles and turn left onto Windfall Road. From here, drive 2/10th of a mile and turn left again onto the Mossy Bank Park Road. Continue on this road for a short distance until you see Davenport Hill Road on your right. Turn onto this road and drive until you see a pond, also on the right. Pull in by the pond and park by the pavilion. The story of a valiant hero, his struggles and his triumphs, begins here.
Once upon a time there was a valiant hero named Doug. He loved the thrill of the hunt and quite often got taken up in the moment of a delicious letterbox quest. It was thus that Doug traveled from both near and far to conquer the Bunniez and Flowerz letterbox. If this is slightly confusing, understand that Doug symbolizes the letterboxer in everyone no matter his or her location of residence. As soon as he arrived via his magic carpet or 1994 VW Bug, whichever you personally prefer, he casually walked to the far end of the pavilion and surreptitiously slunk around a small chunk of trees. At the first little gray building, he hesitated but realized that no placer with any shred of adventure would hide a letterbox remotely near a restroom area. The second building across the “field”, assuming it was not also a restroom, looked promising. Doug kind of hummed the melody to the Turtles song “Happy Together” and hip hopped over to the second building. From here he passed the door on the building and found himself standing at the far corner of the cement pad. 23 paces straight forward enabled him to be facing a birdhouse. Thrilled that he was this far into the hunt, Doug faced the picturesque pond and ate a piece of banana bread. (It is perfectly normal for readers to assume at this point that Doug was indeed carrying a knapsack of some sort.) Following along the line of birdhouses, Doug strolled about 100 paces, equivalent to almost 5 birdhouses (counting the birdhouse across the building as one). Before the 5th birdhouse, in between the first set of double trees, Doug found the…
Unfortunately this is one of those stories that end in a cliffhanger. Let’s just say that after the beauty of the pond was taken in, after all of the goose droppings had been scraped off of Doug’s trusty New Balance sneakers, and after the Mossy Bank letterbox had been conquered, it was a truly happily ever after ending.
