This box was placed in honor of the Second Plant a Letterbox Day, but was a week late. (Long story)
General information: This letterbox is located on the northwestern corner of the lake at Watkins Woolen Mill State Park and State Historic Site. There is a bicycle/walking trail that circles the lake and is 3.8 miles in length. The trail is asphalt and is stroller-friendly. Dogs are also allowed on-leash. The directions to the box are based upon starting the trail at the swimming beach parking lot. Currently, the swimming beach has a fence and do not enter signs. This is a very short walk from the parking area, thus caution and stealth are necessary to prevent muggling.
Follow the paved trail to the north (left). You will cross a wooden bridge that has an 8 on the right-hand side railing. Twelve footfalls from the end of the bridge you will see a tree with a birdhouse on it. 29 steps later you will see a large tree that looks dead, but has leaves high up in the branches. You will find Elmo hiding on the back side of this giant.
