6/16 this letterbox has been transferred to me as of today. I will be replacing the clue within the week.

*****August 18, 2010***** Letterbox has been rehidden. New clues are below.

****March 30, 2010 - The stump/log where this was hidden was falling apart, so I collected it. I hope to hide it again soon.****

We did not plant ink with this box, so you will need to make sure you have an ink pad with you.

This box has been rehidden in the ruins of the CCC camp at Ludington State Park.

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a public work relief program for unemployed men age 18-24, providing unskilled manual labor related to the conservation and development of natural resources in rural areas of the United States from 1933 to 1942. As part of the New Deal legislation proposed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR), the CCC was designed to provide relief for unemployed youth who had a very hard time finding jobs during the Great Depression while implementing a general natural resource conservation program on public lands in every U.S. state

Difficulty level: Easy, but not for strollers or wheelchairs as you have to walk across a small beach section.

Duration: About 30 min
Distance: one half a mile
Where: Ludington State Park

Getting There:
8 miles N. of Ludington on Lakeshore Dr. and M-116 Hwy.
From Ludington, take Lakeshore Drive north for eight miles. Lakeshore Drive becomes M-116, follow M-116 to the end to the park entrance.

Once you’ve paid a user fee/admission at the main gate, take the first drive on the RIGHT going eastward toward Hamlin Lake. Ask for a trail map, or you can download one at: http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/trailinfo.asp?id=262 before you head out.

Follow the road to the end and park by the dam.

After you park, cross over the dam and take a left. You need to follow the trail along Hamlin lake. At a Y you will take a left and stay by the lake. Shortly you will come to a small sandy beach across from the dam. At the end of the beach there is a trail that goes back into the woods. Follow the trail and right away you need to take a left at the Y and stay to the left. You will almost make a U turn. Follow the trail and you will come upon a cement foundation left from one of the CCC buildings. While standing on the foundation look to the right and you can see steps across the way. The box is under the top platform of the steps. These steps originally led into a man made lake for the CCC camp. There will be a cylinder type container containing a CCC, Cute, Cuddly, Cat.

I hope you enjoyed finding the box. Please email us if the box should need any help. Lashley1475@yahoo.com
