NOTE: Boxer attempted this one 8/24/08 but Posion Ivy got in the way so the hunt was not completed. I have no control over mother nature. Sorry
Note Boxer on 9/22 wrote "I found the box on Sept 22 and it is still in good shape. There is some poison ivy in the area but if a person is cautious about the path they take they should be fine."
Note from finder Peaspod on 5/17/09: The stump isn't exactly at 90 degrees and, with the Spring foliage, we really had to hunt. Would have helped to add "When at the edge of the forest, walk toward the main rest stop until you see a 10' stump about 10' in" or something like that.

Difficulty: Easy
Time: 15 minutes. Distance ~ 200 yards round trip
Please bring your stamp, a stamp pad, compass, pen and an old rag to wipe off the box/your hands.

The "Safari Man- On The Highway/ and Interstate" series depicts things one might see as they drive the highways of the U.S. These are targeted mainly for rest stops but might pop up anywhere. This letterbox is titled DOGS BEST FRIEND. Happy traveling!

Clues: Traveling westbound on I-70 , after passing Effingham, find the rest stop at about the 82 mm, enter and park at the last parking before getting to the Road Closed sign. Go to the Road Closed sign and behind it see a chain link fence. Go to the right hand end of this fence and face the end pole. Look approximately 90* right and about 10 feet into the woods see a large stump about 10 feet tall. If this stump were a hydrant, the dogs would love it. Try it out.
Please be discrete when retrieving and replacing this box since the woods are sparse and you might be viewable from the picnic tables and cars located not far away. When done stamping in, please replace the box as you found it and make sure the zippers for the baggies are closed securely. And if you have time, please be so kind as to let me know the condition of the letterbox by contacting the placer at the top of this clue page. Glad to be of service!!, Glenn/Safari Man...of Vincent, Ohio.
