This Letter Box is placed in the beautiful natural reserve of Black Hand gorge ,this area is an easy walk ie: level with a black top surface. That is unless you choose to take one of the trails off of the main trail, then it can be more difficult. If you would walk tho whole trail it about 4 miles. to get to Black Hand Gorge : take either west SR 146 out of Zanesville ,Ohio going towards newark., approx. 11 miles past Dillon Dam, to Toboso Rd.... or if coming from columbus , find Sr 16 out of newark, go east to you come to SR 146 exit, turn right and Toboso rd is a very short distance from there. Once on Toboso Rd. go approx. 1.8 miles, the parking area is on your right. once on the trail go to the look out for Black Hand Rock ( approx. 1/2 mile ) go down the path towards the rock , just before the fencing for the look out go left off the path, go 23 to 25 steps, face the rock wall to your left, there is a loose rock about the size of a canalope covering a hole in the rock wall ,this is where you will find our Letter Box. It's approx 5 feet high. another hint .. as you are looking at the wall you will notice two medium size trees growing out of the side of the rock wall, the box is about 10 feet right of 2nd tree. We hope hou enjoy the walk Marge and Sam
