***Top bridge is washed out due to flooding so changed the status to Missing since you can't get to it.***

Level of Difficulty: Easy with some hills
Time: .8 mile Round Trip

***RECEIVED WORD THAT A GROUND BEE HIVE MAY BE VERY CLOSE TO THIS LB. PLEASE BE CAREFUL IF YOU GET IT. I WILL CHECK ON IT SOON TO CONFIRM***

Directions:

Earth Day was planted at the Rensselaerville Falls in the Edmund Niles Huyck Preserve in Rensselaerville, NY. From Albany, take Route 85 southwest 27 miles into the Village of Rensselaerville. At the stop sign, turn right onto Route 353 and drive a short distance. The parking lot for the preserve is behind a big white house (on the right) right BEFORE the bridge.

**You will need your own ink pad and a pen.

** The beginning of these clues are also of Woolen Mill if you wish to find it.

Clues:

Take the trail out of the parking lot. You will soon walk over a 3 plank wooden bridge overlooking the bottom of the Falls. Veer left on the trail as you pass the old Huyck Felt Hill rock foundation. You will pass though an old rock wall at Marker #5. At the trail sign, turn right following the “Falls and Lake” arrow. At the next intersection, turn right following the “Pond Hill Rd.” arrow. Go over another 3 plank wooden brige overlooking the top of the Falls and continue straight on the trail. You will soon come to a trail sign on your left. Turn left following the “Beach” arrow. Continue up the hill a little ways and you will see a small area with a many dead white birch trees on the ground surrounding a dead triple trunked white birch tree. Behind this tree is a baby pine. Tucked under a portion of a fallen birch and next to the baby pine, you will find Earth Day.

May the baby pine grow big and strong…
