From downtown Lewisburg, head west on Rt. 60 (Washington St.) Turn left after Food and Friends restaurant onto Church St. Go 1/4 mile and turn right on McElhenny Rd. Go 1/3 mile and turn right onto a gravel road at the sign for the "Confederate Cemetery." Park in the loop. Walk through the gate and into the cemetery. You need to figure out in what year J.w. Rogers died. Subtract 1900 from this number and go back to the gate. From the middle of the gate, walk this number of steps up the trail (away from the car.) Look under the rocks and you'll find something special!
While you're here, take some time to learn about the Battle of Lewisburg and the Confederate Cemetery. You may also enjoy strolling through the shops and restaurants of downtown Lewisburg. If you're hungry, check out Food and Friends or the Stardust cafe. If you're in the mood for a beer, you should visit the Pub on Washington Street! The kids may also enjoy Honnalee, a toy store that's fun for all ages!
WHEN YOU FIND THE LETTERBOX, please let us know at ppmr2000@yahoo.com. THANKS!
