The stamps in this series are carved adaptations of five of the artist & author Edward Gorey's drawings. Each box's title refers to the title of the Gorey book it comes from. Sometimes that means the box name seems to have nothing at all to do with the image. That's not completely inappropriate.

To find these boxes, start at the Jordan Creek Parkway in Whitehall, PA. (Just north of Allentown.) The main entrance to the park is on Scherersville Road (aka Lehnert Rd.) 7/10 mile east of Mauch Chunk Rd. The Valley Mountain Bikers have a helpful map of the park here.

1. Chinese Obelisks:
(NOTE: THIS BOX HAS BEEN REPORTED DESTROYED. THE CLUES REMAIN HERE BECAUSE YOU'LL NEED THEM FOR THE OTHER BOXES.)
* Take the road/trail heading northeast from the parking lot.

* Go across the bridges. Pass the stairs.

* The trail curves to the left. Then a wide trail crosses. Take this wide trail to the right, downhill to number 13.

* From 13, go 35 paces due west. (Remember to stand a few feet away from the metal for your compass' sake.)

* A double tree. SPOR at roots. (Very decomposed tree to the southwest.)

2. Epiplectic Bicycle:
* Return to 13.

* Take the trail heading north right next to the creek. Shortly, a massive sycamore with room for an "airmail" letterbox on your right. Continue.

* Go through the tulgy woods.

* Stop at the tree where you could hide a letterbox the size of an Audi.

* From the Audi-hole, go seven paces at 210*. SPOL at roots of tree.

3. The Osbick Bird:
* Continue the way you were going. Walk by the cement mulch storage area.

* When you reach the road, turn right and go over M. Eck's Bridge. (Melvin Eck? Marvin Eck? Mortimer Eck?)

* From the end of the bridge, take a bearing of 160*. Follow that trail.

* At the Y, bear left (130*) up the hill. Thus, do not pass the two large sycamore sentinels.

* Pass the Shredders' SPOR. (A parallel trail is now to your left.)

* Soon you'll see an enormous 4-tree, 25% of which is done.

* Just past that semi-unfortunate tree, another 4-tree hides SPOR out back.

4. Amphigorey Also:
(NOTE: "Lumpy" has been deemed by some to be an extreme location. Seek at your own risk.)
* Continue the way you were going.

* When you see old #13 on the right, way down and across the creek, turn left.

* Thirty paces later, turn left at Cedar Way.

* Continue on this, all the way back to the bridge. M'eck beckons.

* Cross the bridge. Turn right onto the trail/road.

* 1/4 mile later, make a sharp left uphill onto a trail.

* 29 paces up the trail, look behind Lumpy on the right for SPOR.

5. L'Heure Bleue:
* Go back down. Turn right onto the road to begin your return.

* Pass the army truck you shall not drink.

* Stop at the bench next to a disc golf tee.

* From the tee, spot a very long downed tree at 225*.

* Follow the tree to the other end, and look in the end of the trunk, under SPOL.
