THIS BOX HAS BEEN REPLACED! PLEASE CHECK CLUE UPDATE!
Battle Creek's Number 1 Building was opened in 1894.
Educational records show that 17 seniors graduated from
High school that year.
In 1908, a larger building opened on that site.
Needed parking in later years, opened the
Designated parking across Van Buren Street.
Going there will give you senior status.
Understand, that this is where you are educated
And where you will find "THE GRADUATE".
Reading writing and arithmetic were taught
District wide. Students were expected to
Retain certain information and were tested.
Any senior having this knowledge graduated.
If an exam showed that a student was
Lacking the required information, the teacher
Entered failing scores on his/her report card
And the student repeated the grade until
Scores showed the knowledge had been gained.
To celebrate retirement, after working in
Education for the Battle Creek Public Schools
Nearly 56 combined years, my husband and I
Decided to plant this letterbox.
Please use extreme caution when retrieving and
Replacing. MUGGLES ARE EVERYWHERE!
Occasionally a story will not clearly give
The clue needed to help the reader.
Even when all you need is there,
