UPDATE: 5/20/07 - Just learned there is Poison Ivy near and around this LB. Please take precautions.

Level of Difficulty: Easy
Time: 1 mile round-trip

The Monkey was a novelty dance made popular in 1963. Can you do “The Monkey”?

** You will need your own ink and a pen.

*** This LB is close to the trail, PLEASE use discretion when obtaining it.

Directions:

“The Monkey” was planted near Lock 20 Park in Marcy, NY. From Rome, take Route 49 East. Take a right turn off onto Route 291 (Exit – Marcy Business District). At the stop sign, take a right onto Route 291 and cross the bridge. Just after the bridge, you will see a blue Trailhead Parking sign pointing to the parking area on the left. Park here.

Clues:

Take the gravel path and turn right at the stop sign onto the paved path. The path curves left and then it curves right. Stay on the paved path passing the white building. Continue past Lock 20. Go past 3 wooden stakes (with orange and white deflectors) stretching across the path. You will come to the back of a small gray sign on the right side of the path. The front of the sign reads “H O F ½ M Mile 5”. From this sign, go 15 paces to a large tree on your right. It is behind this tree, you will learn “The Monkey”.
