This is a series that I've had in mind for quite a while now and will be fully out by summers end. There will be a total of 9 stamps, one for each of the stops along the Channel Cat's route and one on the Cat itself. Keep posted for up coming boxes in this series and check out the web-site for more information. http://www.qcmetrolink.com/services/channelcat.php

8 stamps you will be able to get to on land the one on the Channel Cat will cost a small fee. Of course the fun way to go about this series is taking a full day of riding the Channel Cat and finding the letterboxes along the way.

The first in the series is The Mark of the Quad Cities. The Mark now is called the I Wireless Center, however, it will always be The Mark too us.

This stamp is very special to me, on Thanksgiving Day weekend 1998 I walked my lovely Becki along the path you will take. The night was windy, but the air warm. The lights were glowing, as the sun had already set. Just a few feet from this box I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me!

So now you know. The Reason I love this spot so much! :-)

CLUES;

This box has a hand carved stamp, bring your own stamp pad.

If you are driving take Moline's River Drive to 15th Street and turn north into the parking lot. I would walk around TGIF's past the patio towards the Mark, you can stop at the entrance to the wooden peer -- this is where you would catch the Channel Cat.

If you are riding on the Channel Cat get off at the John Deere Commons Landing and make your way up the walk way.

Head east the side walk where you start is a giant circle, then narrow to a path, then open up to a circle again with a circle of grass in the middle.

Keep walking to the third circle in the pathway, this one doesn't have any grass in the middle. Stand in the middle of the circle and look towards the river. There are 3 light posts.

Go and stand just to the right of the middle light post, next to the stone base. Enjoy the view, gorgeous isn't it? You have a great view the I-74 bridge, straight ahead is Arsenal Island.

In the hand rail you are leaning on is the logo for the Mark of the Quad Cities inside of a film canister. I slid a plastic bag into the rail so that this box doesn't slide to far in.

Please enjoy this spot and the stamp. Please note the "up" arrows on the back of this stamp, sorry I carved it a little lop-sided.
