PLEASE READ: We checked the letterbox in September 2014, the first time in a long while. We found that, probably because of the storms in the past, the park has many trees down over the trail and there are few blazes. We were able to find the letterbox, and have modified the clues, but we had a bit of trouble returning to our car. We had to use the GPS on my phone to get back. So if you look for this box, we advise you leave a trail of breadcrumbs - or maybe, bring a GPS, compass or some other technology, just in case.

This letterbox is located at Pocantico Park in Briarcliff Manor. Take Route 117, and just west of the Taconic Parkway, go north at the light on Beech Hill Road. Make a left on Long Hill Road, then a left on Cedar Drive East and another left on Laurel Lane, where you will find the entrance to the park.

Begin by following the path straight ahead. When it bears left, you will see a stone wall on the right and some large stones on the left. Walking parallel to the stone wall, follow the path uphill; pass through an opening in a stone wall, and go straight ahead. The trail will then dip downhill and to the right, then uphill. After you see trees with yellow blazes, the path will turn left and go uphill toward a stone wall.

Go through a gap (actually stepping on some of the stones) in the stone wall. The trail goes uphill; follow that path to the highest part of the hill where you will see another stone wall.

At the top of the hill, go to the stone wall. At the highest point of the wall, there is a tree. The letterbox is in the wall behind the tree, toward the bottom of the wall.
