Directions: Take Exit 54, Broadway Ave, from I84 and head north into Boise. Broadway eventually turns into Ave B, but stay on this road until you can turn right onto Warm Springs Ave. Turn left on Penitentiary Rd and follow signs to the Old Idaho Penitentiary parking lot. Start at the hiking information sign.
Description: All up hill hike to the letterbox. It took me about an hour round trip.
Clues: Table Rock Trail 15. Up, up and away. To the “Cross.” Enjoy the view. Now turn around and walk behind the Cross toward the road that folks drove up. Take the 1st trail/road to your right leading to the fenced in tower. Before the fence, you’ll come to a pole on the left of the trail with a 3’ long flat boulder in front of it. From the pole head 7 paces at 220degrees to another boulder near the edge with a crevice underneath. This is a micro-box, so it’s nestled under one rock. Please be careful if hiking with small children.
Sorry, but we think we broke our compass on this treck so our readings could have been off, but maybe not. You should still be able to get it, even if our compass was broken. Enjoy!
