From I-40, take exit 20 and drive north on U. S. Hwy. 283 for about 0.8 miles. This is historic U. S. Hwy. 66. Turn left into Sayre City Park and follow the signs to the campground which is in the southwest corner of the park. Park at the large green campground sign which is next to a log information booth.
Walk south through the campground to its far southern edge. Look for a large red sandstone boulder on a short slope. The box is behind the eastern end of the boulder under a small slab of concrete covered with plant debris.
At certain times of the year there are many people around this area; so, please be very discreet when retrieving and rehiding the box.
Please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag), and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the concrete slab and cover with plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.
The paved road just on the other side (west) of the log fence is an older alignment of Route 66.
I will not be able to check on this box; so, please let me know if you find it, or if it needs attention or is missing: http://home.att.net/~azroadie/letterboxing.html
Please record your find at www.letterboxing.org/ or at www.atlasquest.com/ .
