This letterbox is planted at an historic site in the small town of Drain, Oregon. It is planted in our infamous covered bridge, which is located behind our beautiful civic center/library. Originally, the bridge was located on the east side of town. The city intended to tear down the covered bridge in order to upgrade to a newer, safer bridge. Drain's former mayor, Grant Levins protested because he had received his first kiss under that bridge and that first kiss married him. Grant worked very hard to get donations and grant money in order to move the bridge. It was taken down one board at a time, each one numbered in order to reassemble at the new location.
To find our letterbox, take I-5 to exit 162. Go west on hwy 99/38 until you come to the town of Drain. Vere to the right at the curve, then turn left on Second Street, Right on "A" Ave, then an immediate left at the Drain Civic Center. Drive straight past the building and you will see the covered bridge in front of you. Get out of your vehicle and walk to the right side of the bridge and to the underneath. On the far right, look up and you'll a small cement block wedged between the bridge boards. Pull the block out and you will see the letterbox.
